We had a wonderful three day stay here. It is outside the city so wonderful for people looking for a getaway that is truly inside the wildlife area. The watering hole just outside the lodge allowed us to spend days relaxing and watching the elephants, monkeys, and kudu. The staff were lovely and went out of their way to add personal touches and make sure we were comfortable. They arrange a full day at Chobe, which is very packed, but the time back at the lodge is very relaxing. Good wifi in the rooms and very good food at dinner. The sundowner at welcome and the song when you leave really were great bookends to our whole experience. Would recommend to anyone, especially for those looking for a true wildlife experience.

The elephant safed this rating After reading all the good ratings we wanted to stay two nights after a long and stressful trip through Botswana. The good things: elephants were amazing, to see them so close and peaceful drinking was amazing. The ablutions and hut for the campsite was clean and spacious which was amazing. The improvements: the pool was empty, which was a shame on the hot days. The manager told us that it will be filled in the morning, but it was still empty and not clean at all. So we could not take our relaxing day. I would understand it, due to the droughts - but why not being honest about it. We wanted to join dinner, which was a downside as well. After all we left after one night. Thankfully they did not charge us the second, even we pre booked it. Which was nice. I don’t say, that you can’t stay here - it is good for a night. But compared to other places we visited in Botswana, it is not worth 60€ - which was the most expensive camp we booked at all. Staff was friendly.

A framework to discover An exceptional site, in the middle of the forest, where in the evening we dine in front of the elephants who come to quench their thirst at the nearby watering hole; The staff were very attentive, the kitchen was good and the rooms were well equipped. Breakfast served buffet style.

Great campsites + waterhole We spent a night there on a campsite. This was great thought out and very clean. You could walk to the restaurant - Viewpoint ( about 150m ^^ ). There we could observe a lot of elephants drinking, bathing and playing. Furthermore, antelopes and other animals came to the water. Later, after dusk, we could even see and observe an owl. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We had taken the dinner - that was unfortunately not so good, maybe we were just unlucky there that evening 🙂 Otherwise highly recommended - is a bit off the beaten track, which then makes it more exciting. We would definitely come back!

Compensating elephants for everything Simple, quite narrow rooms without air conditioning. Bathroom is OK, but not anymore. Extraordinarily friendly staff. Loving care. Breakfast sufficient, buffet neat. But it doesn't matter if you have 22 elephants 10 meters away. Just gigantic.

Campsite Extremely friendly staff. We were way too early for check-in but staff accommodated us without any hesitation. Complementary coffee and tea station available by the bar area. Campsite has everything you need, kitchen wash up, separate laundry basin, braai area with a grid as well as a table and benches. Also multiple plugs available with a plug in the bathroom close to the mirror. Very neat but can be a bit cleaner, soap marks still on the soap dish for example. Also need some maintenance with pipes leaking, floor in poor condition. Dinner with the elephants was truly an amazing experience and was even lucky with a leopard sighting the evening. The food was average, 3 course meal with potato and leek soup as starter, beef stew with rice and vegetables and poached pear and ice-cream. The food was tasty but the meat was very though and vegetables and poached pear undercooked. Wifi was available at the reception and restaurant area. The campsite is over priced, and need some maintenance.

Disappointing Experience at Chobe Mopani Forest Lodge My wife and I recently spent three weeks traveling through Namibia and Botswana, staying at various lodges and guest farms. Unfortunately, our final stop at Chobe Mopani Forest Lodge was the worst experience of our trip, despite the impressive central waterhole that attracted many animals, especially elephants, day and night. Upon arrival, we were served an afternoon lunch but found that the lodge had run out of cold sparkling water. Dinner began with a soup that was supposed to be hot but was served cold. This issue repeated the next evening; however, after sending the soup back, it was correctly heated. During our second breakfast, we requested some bread and received only one slice with the comment that it was all they had left in the kitchen, despite being among the first guests in the restaurant. On our third breakfast, we asked for yogurt and were told there was none left. Incredible. The shower in our Meru tent was broken, leaving us with only cold water. Despite reporting this to the manager, the issue was never fixed. Other problems included the unavailability of coffee, mostly empty refrigerators, and subpar dinner quality with no menu options. Fortunately, we are not picky eaters. This lodge has so much potential but is in desperate need of proper management and operations. It’s a shame because the location and setting are beautiful. Upon checking out, we were offered financial compensation, which we appreciated. However, we would have preferred decent service that made compensation unnecessary. Frankly, we do not understand the consistently positive reviews this place receives on TripAdvisor. We've noticed that reviews on other sites are much more mixed, which aligns more closely with our experience.

The Best! An experience like no other game lodge! Phenomenal experience. I grew up in Southern Africa and have stayed at many luxury game lodges (even in Kasane), this was like none other! New wildlife appeared at the lodge everyday and you can watch them from your room or while eating breakfast about 200ft (61m) away yet still felt safe. Elephants were always there and were so endearing to see playing in the borehole (photographers dream). The staff were amazing, price and packages were a steal and each activity they offered and hosted had their own vibrant experience. Lodging was comfortable and aesthetic. Only trade off is air conditioners were not installed while we were there (but the animals constantly around unlike other lodges supersedes that in terms of making memories). By the end of our trip myself, my wife and another couple that had accompanied us knew all of the staffs names as they made it a lifetime of an experience. Even the chef was world class so every meal was delicious (not to mention drinks were they along with cocktails were included in the package). All in all, we will definitely book there again and look forward to it the next time we travel to Botswana!

Lovely place Great Place to camp. There is sucurity on guard so don't worry. Be aware of not collecting wire wood without a look out and a car near by as there are lions around and very close. The bathrooms are nicely done even though it seems like you might fall through the floor. The fireplace at our campground was badly located next to a bush or rather nearly underneath it. As it was very windy when we stayed here we were a bit afraid to start a bushfire as there was no protection from the wind. Each campground has its own lamp. Please make sure to turn it off at night (because they were afraid of the wildlife) when you have neighbours. Ours did not turn theirs off and it was really bright at night. Sadly the common area was really empty and quit at night. However, during the day it is worth spending time around the waterhole to see wildlife. Elephants are common. The staff is really nice and friendly. They even came running to the campgrounds to tell us that there is a lion at the waterhole.

Great hospitable accommodation What a wonderful staff! Very friendly and helpful staff. We made two beautiful game drives from the accommodation and the view of the waterhole is special. The campsite and the hotel room are spacious, clean and have good facilities. We made great memories here!!
